The K Club Dark Side by Rachell Nichole ~ Book Tour and Giveaway ~ Dark Erotic Romance

FROM HEAD TO TALE Presents The K Club Dark Side Book Tour and Giveaway

Awakening Submission
The K Club Dark Side Book 1
by Rachell Nichole
Genre: Dark Erotic Romance

I am not a submissive. Nuh uh, no way. As a relationship therapist, I understand the appeal of kink, I really do, but it was never for me. Until him.

Sir Clayton Schultz, PhD strode into my life unannounced and with the air of arrogance that only a Dom like him could have.

A chance meeting at a kinky conference where I’m teaching a workshop on the psychology of relationships, leads to one hell of a night. But Sir has rules to follow.

We’re intent on having a little fun at the conference and going our separate ways, but when we get home, and realize we don’t live far from one another, we make it all of a week before we’re together in his bed.

But I’m not sure if I can do this whole submissive thing full-time, or how to reconcile being a strong, independent feminist, and Sir Clayton’s submissive.

Scorched by Sarah O'Rourke: Blog Tour & Sale

Kinky Vanilla Romance is pleased to share Scorched by Sarah O'Rourke!

Life after marriage was everything that William “Devil” Delancy was all that he wanted it to be and more.   That was, until his sweet, amazing (and slightly scary!) wife Molly decided to do the impossible -- arrange the wedding of his drama queen assistant!

The question soon becomes...will the always-in-control Devil lose Molly to the wedding plans that are quickly falling apart, or will he be able to pull out all of the scorching sexual charms he’s known for and bring her back to the dark side?

Romantic erotica comedy at its best!  New Release...ONLY 99 pennies for a limited time! 42K words - sequel to Sizzle, but also is a STANDALONE!
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25030703-scorched?ac=1

Moaning as Devil palmed one warm globe and lifted it to his mouth, Molly watched him envelope her nipple, twirling his tongue around the hardened peak and watching as it drew even tighter.  “God!” she gasped as he delivered the same treatment to the opposite breast, “I love it when you do that.”

“Tits like these deserve to be worshiped, darlin’.  And believe me, I could kneel at this altar all night, but you’ve got so many more curves that I want to explore,” Devil rumbled in his velvety voice as he rained kisses over the upper curves of her breasts.

Molly felt like she was being both bathed in pleasure and showered by bliss as Devil traveled the hills and valleys of her body, exploring every inch of flesh with his damp lips.  He paused every once in a while to lavish attention on certain locales, but mostly his mouth remained on the move, content to map her body with gentle touches of his lips.  It was slow and sensual, and everything a woman could ask for in a lover.

Her legs moved restlessly against his as he reached the curve of her belly and hunger unlike anything she’d experienced before began to claw at her as Devil’s soft lips lingered over her belly button, his devilish tongue flicking that ticklish spot playfully.    Writhing underneath her husband’s marauding lips, Molly giggled as her fingers speared Devil’s hair.

“Stop that!” she gasped, twisting underneath him as their legs tangled together.

“Tell me I’m a sex god, then,” Devil demanded, flicking her belly button again and pulling a high pitched squeal from his wife.

“Are you crazy?  I will not!” Molly laughed, attempting to turn away from him onto her belly.

Holding Molly flat on her back with one splayed palm against her torso, Devil grinned against her skin.  “Say it,” he demanded, moving his mouth lower, his breath teasing against her sensitive folds. “Say it or you earn a punishment,” he warned teasingly, lifting his head long enough to give his wife a roguish grin.

Molly’s eyes lit up at his not-so-scary threat.  Licking her lips slowly as her body undulated beneath his, she shook her head.  “No,” she clipped tartly, privately knowing that his ‘punishment’ would deliver nothing but the most sinful pleasure.

“No, huh?” Devil drawled, one eyebrow arching as he considered his wife beneath him.  “Is my Molly feeling sassy tonight?” he asked, popping his open palm against her neatly trimmed pussy.  Hearing her low moan, Devil grinned again.  “Tell me, baby, am I going to need to fuck that sass right out of you?”

Molly offered her husband a sexy smile and cocked her head on the pillow as she stared up at him and said the three words guaranteed to drive him wild.  “If you can.”

When Your Research Gives You Goosebumps!
by Nancy Fraser

In honor of today’s holiday (my second favorite), I thought I’d share a spine-tingling personal experience.

A number of years ago I was working on a new novel ... a futuristic time travel that began with a visit to a psychic who claimed to be able to transport guests to the future for a 20-second ride and then return them safely home. My heroine, a tenacious Lois Lane-type investigative reporter was sent to debunk her claim. The hero was not only an NYC vice cop, but also the heroine’s ex-husband.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my characters...where I wanted them to go, how I wanted them to feel. The part of the story I was struggling with was the mystic part, the séance, the mysterious psychic personality.

A writer friend recommended that I visit her neighbor who, my friend assured me, possessed all the right psychic powers to answer my multitude of questions. So, being the thorough researcher that I like to think I am, I gave the woman a call.

When I made the appointment, I explained I was only there for insight into what a psychic medium does and how I could relate it to my work-in-progress. The woman told me to bring the first chapter of my book in a sealed envelope as well as something else I used when I wrote. My never-empty coffee cup was the first thing that came to mind but, instead, I put a copy of the story on my backup thumb drive and took that as well.

Non-believer that I was, I reluctantly forked over my hard-earned cash and took my seat at the table. Even though I’d only come for information, she insisted I allow her to go through her usual routine. And so...

Handwriting analysis: She had me write out a very simple sentence and then proceeded to delve into my personality based on what I’d written. I was fully expecting she’d hone in on my fiction writing but, rather, she discussed many things non-writing related from my past. Creepy!

Palm reading: Next she read my hand, pointed out my deep and long lifeline (encouraging) and found my writer’s fork! Okay, now we’re getting into what I’d expected. She also said there was a break in my heart line that would become apparent near the upcoming year-end holidays. Given both my mother and my in-laws were elderly, this gave me a moment’s pause.

Tarot cards: Nothing too profound at first. Then, she turned over the card that was supposed to represent the man/love in my life. She said there were wheels around this person. I snickered ... after all, my husband worked for a company that manufactured car wheels. The woman told me to not be so quick to laugh, and that the card had nothing to do with his employment. Strange but not creepy!

Object Association: Finally! We were to the reason I’d come. I handed her the sealed envelope and the thumb drive. She laid them on the table and rested her hands on top. Within minutes, she was giving me details in my book that we’d not discussed...delving accurately into my vivid imagination. She definitely had my attention!

Then, for some strange reason, she began talking about a farmhouse, a small boy with blond hair and a camera. I explained that those weren’t from the book I was working on, but rather from an outline for another book I’d hoped to write someday. She asked if I was thinking of that second book while we talked and I told her “no”, I hadn’t thought of it in weeks.

After we were done and she’d given me some wonderful insight as to how I could play up the psychic’s skills in my book, we opened the envelope and I showed her the first scene she’d described so well. I left the session far less of a skeptic but still not convinced true powers existed. However, I did have a wealth of information I could use while finishing my book and for that I was grateful.

When I got home, I threw the thumb drive in the computer to delete the pages I’d added. When I pulled up the directory, I found not only the pages from for my time travel, but also the proposal for the forgotten story. Goosebumps covered every inch of my arms!

Fast forward three months, the holidays were upon us, and ... my heart line and tarot card readings ... came crashing down around me. My husband of over 25 years decided to call it quits and he’d set the wheels in motion to separate. Everything she’d predicted had come true and I was now a dyed-in-wool believer ... and still am to this day. I’m not saying every psychic is on the up-and-up...I’m not that naive. However, there are people out there with true gifts, whether it be of a psychic nature, or creative nature ... we all have something to give.

The book I’m sharing with you today, The Muse, is my creative outlet … my something to give. I hope that you’ll be enticed by the beautiful cover and blurb and pick one up. If not, that’s okay too.

If you’re going out tonight, with children or without, be safe and have a spookily good time!

The Muse by Nancy Fraser

Privileged Hyde Park socialite, Susan Leland, wants more from life than being a rich man’s daughter. She wants excitement, daring, but most of all, she wants to explore her sexuality. A chance meeting with artist Evan Forrester, a man she’d met purely by ‘accident’ months earlier, leads Susan on a journey of sensual discovery that not only includes the handsome Evan, but also sultry torch singer, Holly Winters. Together, the singer and the artist uncover Susan’s utmost desires and unleash her inner vamp.

EXCERPT

Susan tapped lightly on the solid oak door leading to Evan Forrester’s downtown loft. The building was old, in parts dilapidated and smelling of mold. The three-story climb to his studio had been precarious, with more broken stairs than good ones. The urge to turn and flee ran rampant through her thoughts. She still couldn’t believe she was actually taking him up on his suggestion.

She hesitated. She hadn’t pictured him being destitute, a starving artist unable to afford something better than this run-down building. As hard as she tried to ignore her inner voice, she couldn’t hide her concern for the safety of her situation. Eager to be out of the dark, damp hallway, she knuckled the door a bit harder, stopping just short of actually using her balled-up fist to pound the old wood.

From behind the barrier, she could hear the shuffle of footsteps, and held her breath in anticipation. When the door opened, she let her breath out on a sigh of relief.

“You’re here,” Evan said, his gaze flaring as if she’d caught him by surprise.

“You said one o’clock,” Susan reminded him. She made a rather deliberate show of staring at her bare wrist. “It’s five minutes of, according to my watch.”

He stepped back and allowed her inside. Unlike the dark entryway and corridors leading to the third floor, his loft was filled with color, vivid splashes of paint adorning walls full of original artwork. Windows rose from floor to ceiling, allowing the early afternoon sun to shine through, unimpeded by draperies of any kind. Sparsely furnished with nothing more than a few chairs and a small kitchen table. Susan wondered what lay behind each of the three doors along the back wall.

“Truthfully, I didn’t think you’d show.” He waved his hand in a circle, the arc encompassing the entire open living area. “I don’t get many Hyde Park society girls in my studio.”

She raised her chin a notch. “Whether you realize it or not, I’m not like most Hyde Park girls.” When he didn’t comment, she reminded him, “You said I could make up for the accident by posing for you. I’m here to make amends for—as you put it—the pain and suffering my recklessness caused.”

He chuckled, the teasing lilt of his voice drawing her attention to where he stood. It was then she realized he was dressed in little more than a pair of tight- fitting denim rousers and an unbuttoned shirt. A sparse patch of short curls adorned his well-muscled chest, trailing downward to disappear inside the waistband of his pants. His feet were bare and his dark hair tousled, as if she’d awoken him from a sound sleep. His second laugh, this one much heartier than the first, told her she’d been caught staring. A sudden wave of heat rushed her cheeks. Her pulse raced.

“As I said last night, I don’t do formal portraits.”

His words drew her gaze back to his face, his mouth, the fullness of his lips. She raised her head and nodded. “Let’s just get this over with, please.”

He crooked his finger and motioned for her to follow. “Bathroom’s through there, if you need the facilities.” He opened the door to the middle room. “This is my bedroom. You can change in here, if you’d like. There’s a dressing gown hanging on the back of the door.”

“Change into what?” she asked. Her throat suddenly as dry as a pile of cotton batting, she slipped out of her lightweight coat and cloche and laid them at the foot of the bed.

Evan shook his head; his eyebrows arched and wagged teasingly. “Into as very little as you’re comfortable with, Miss Leland. I prefer totally nude, but if you’d like to leave your fancy drawers on, I can use my imagination.” He motioned toward the wooden table in the corner of the room. “There are some props, jewelry and the sort, over there, if you’d like to doll yourself up.”

“Anything else?” She did her best to put a sarcastic bent to her question yet feared her voice trembled too much to make the right impression.

He lowered his gaze from her face, across her body, down her legs, settling at last on her ankles. The intensity of his perusal made her toes curl.

“Take off those shoes and put on a pair with ankle straps. Preferably black. There should be a pair in the closet that will fit you.” He turned toward the door, stopping to add, “My studio is in the next room over. I’ll prepare a fresh canvas. Don’t take forever. I have someone coming at three.”

Hell’s Bounty by Kayden Claremont

Raven Hart, a succubus bounty hunter for Hell, is on a hunt. With her query in sight, she hits a brick wall, or rather the very hard chest of a giant sexy man. She might have lost the prize for now, but she's a winner when the hottie wants to get physical.

Marcus Dionysius, a Nephilim working for Heaven, has one mission—to prevent Hell’s beauty from stealing souls meant for the higher plane. But he soon realizes he’s met his sexual match. She’s naughty enough to tempt his senses, but her innocence means he can’t walk away when she needs him most.

Working together to discover who’s snatching souls from Heaven, they realize the true danger is falling in love.

EXCERPT

Raven looked over at him. “Marcus, this is the coroner, Doctor Hill. Doc, this is my new partner, Detective Marcus Dionysius.”

Marcus extended his hand to the doctor, but he just paced back and forth, ignoring the proffered handshake. “Oh, my dear, you shouldn’t see this.”

“Doc, I’m a detective. There isn’t much I haven’t seen.” Raven’s no-nonsense tone had no effect on the doctor. “No, dear, not this time.” He took her by the elbow and led her a few feet away from the body. Shaking his head, he continued, “This time it’s too personal. You don’t need to see this.” He pointed at the body on the ground. “It’s Stephen, my dear.”

Marcus watched shock flash across her face for a moment before she got control again. She wasn’t expecting to see her late partner. She hadn’t done this, but that didn’t clear her of the other attacks.

The captain was sleazy. Everyone in heaven and hell knew it. And everyone thought that because Raven worked so closely with him, she was part of his plan. Marcus hoped the sexy succubus wasn’t connected with hell’s mess. He moved closer to the body.

Doctor Hill glanced at him and stopped talking.

Clearing his throat, Marcus said softly to Raven, “I’ll handle this if you’re not up to it. The captain can assign another detective to work the case with me.”

Raven looked up at him, anger flaring in her eyes as she answered, “What do you think I am? Some fragile female who can’t do her job?”

The Incubus Saga by Amanda Meuwissen: Incubus Book Review, Author Interview, and Giveaway

Kinky Vanilla Romance is pleased to share The Incubus SagaIncubus and Changeling by Amanda Meuwissen, a Paranormal Erotic (M/M) Romance series available now from BigWorldNetwork.com.

http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2014/06/virtual-nbtm-book-tour-incubus-saga-by.html

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Amanda will be awarding a digital copy of both Incubus and Changeling to a randomly drawn winner via Rafflecopter during the tour. Remember, the more stops you visit, the more chances you earn to win.

The Incubus Saga by Amanda Meuwissen

INCUBUS: Nathan only ever wanted a normal life, but for him, life, family, and love are anything but normal.

On the other side of the Veil, dark and light fae exist outside the knowledge of most humans. Nathan Grier was born human, but his twin brother Jim is a changeling. On the run since they were children, time for both of them is running out. Turning to fae hunter Sasha Kelly for help, Nathan must soon face his growing feelings for the other man while trying to save himself and his brother from a fate worse than death.

CHANGELING: Nathan Grier’s dark fae bounty looms overhead. As he faces the very real threat of becoming a slave to the bounty’s owner, his brother Jim uses his changeling abilities more and more trying to save him. Every changeling throughout history turns evil once their powers manifest, meaning time may be running out for both of them as Jim nears True Awakening.

Fae hunter and incubus, Sasha Kelly, is prophesized to save Nathan, but while Nathan has embraced his feelings for the other man, he fears their time together will be cut short—either from his impending fate…or Jim’s.

EXCERPT

Incubus

“Nathan, I couldn’t make you like me if you didn’t already even if I doused you in pheromones. It doesn’t work that way. This is just us. Just you and me. For all intents and purposes, right now I’m practically human.”

“Ha,” Nathan laughed. “Right.”

“No tricks,” Sasha said, moving in that much closer so he was practically speaking against Nathan’s lips. “Just…”

Nathan didn’t realize his eyes were shut until Sasha's lips were on him. Half of him thought he had to be dreaming and that when he opened his eyes he would be alone. His senses told him differently.

Sasha’s lips were as soft as Nathan’s were chapped, and pliant, and giving. They enveloped Nathan like no lips ever had. A flicker of what Nathan had felt when Sasha shared the feeding experience with him stirred in Nathan's stomach, like an echo, and he found himself leaning in. Sasha was so warm. Even without his jacket, he radiated heat and that glorious smell of leather.

That's when it finally struck Nathan. Fae didn't have a scent—not any that Nathan had ever met before—but Sasha did. And it was intoxicating.

Sasha’s lips were moving against his, and Nathan was moving his too, and their mouths were open just enough that the smallest tilt of Sasha’s head pushed the kiss deep enough to touch tongues. Nathan shivered, and shivered again when he felt Sasha’s hand at the curve of his face and neck—gentle, guiding.

The kiss was lasting too long already. Nathan had to think quickly. He readied himself as much as he could and pulled away, smiling. “See,” he said, and his voice didn’t waver in the slightest. “Nothing. Sorry, man.”

MY RAMBLES

Changelings. Dark fae. Light fae.  It was all news to me. This was my first time dipping my toes in the pool of M/M paranormal erotic romance. I was introduced to Nathan and Jim Grier in Incubus. In one of the most unique plot twists I've read recently, Nathan is born human and his twin brother Jim is a changeling.

Jim's changeling status forces them to live life on the run. These brothers stick together no matter what. As Jim comes into his own as a changeling, danger seems to lurk around every corner. Their brotherly bond reminded me a little of brothers Dean and Sam Winchester from the television show Supernatural. When Nathan feels like his protection is no longer enough, he seeks help from fae hunter Sasha Kelly. Sparks of attraction unexpectedly heat things up between Nathan and Sasha - further complicating things in ways that Nathan struggles to handle.

What I enjoyed most about Incubus was the world-building. It is a complex set-up, but laid out in way that was easy for me to follow. [sighs in appreciation] Jim, Nathan, and Sasha each have their own unique issues and approaches to handling them. The secondary characters are well-written and engaging. The story is full of suspense, romance, and adventure so I think that it has appeal across genres. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook episodes on the Big Network website.

I couldn't wait to dive into The Incubus Saga #2, Changeling. Drop by tomorrow and check out my review of the book.

NOTE: I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

How much of a story did you have in mind before you started writing Incubus?

When I initially started writing Incubus in 2007, very little, just the idea of a short novella at most with an incubus love story. As I wrote more, the story progressed into something much bigger. When I went back starting in 2011 to transform the original version of the story into something I was really proud to make into a novel series, I had all of the groundwork ready for me, but have definitely cut and changed a lot.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) of Changeling to write and why?

The cave scenes near the end. I have a particular love for ‘good guy goes evil’ moments, and Nathan having to face his brother and lover as evil versions of themselves was a real treat to write.

What about your characters surprised you while writing The Incubus Saga?

A character that is introduced who was always planned to be killed off, actually revealed to me that he has to be killed off sooner in book 3 than originally intended, which surprised me at first, and then made me go…no, this makes sense, I always felt something was off there. I love when characters do that.

You are a narrator for several BigWorldNetwork.com series, including Incubus. How has that experience influenced your writing?

More than I thought it would. I have experience as an on-air radio personality, theater background, etc., but it was still very weird at first reading my own and others’ work out loud, especially when it gets to steamier bits. Now, it’s old hat. I narrate for The Vlishgnath Chronicles and other related works by Daniel Mitchell, which is a very male-heavy cast, like my own work, and it’s always fun to figure out how different characters should sound. But where narrating influences my writing is when I’m recording something and I realize it sounds off when read out loud, so I’ve made several last minute edits while doing audio.

How did you celebrate the sale of your first book?

Ever? That would have been The Collector at a small Minnesota convention aptly named MiniCon, which we frequent every year. The buyer was another vendor, but she was a dear. I got a photo with her, and got to hear what she thought of the book at the con the following year, when she then purchased Incubus. We went out to dinner that night with others representing BWN, including CEO Jim McGovern, Creative Director Mario Hernandez, fellow author, editor, and narrator Meagan Hedin, and my husband.

What’s your biggest challenge as a writer? How did you overcome it, or how are you working to overcome it?

Killing my babies/darlings, especially with The Incubus Saga, since it was something I initially wrote years ago that was much longer than the final product. It has required SO much editing and paring down, and yet I know I could do even better to improve the pacing. I look forward to my first book after The Incubus Saga, so I can put into practice keeping things more minimalistic with plot and progress, which working on editing Incubus has really pushed me toward.

Do you have an ideal reader in mind when you write? If so, please describe that reader.

Myself. :-) I love reading my own work, and sometimes go on binges where I go back and read all my old fanfiction. I wrote those stories, and continue to write original work now, because I felt something was missing in what I wanted to read from others, so my goal is always to please myself. When I come across readers who get excited about the same things for the same reasons, and somehow seem to love my work as much as me…that’s the best feeling in the world.

What is on your “keeper shelf” of books?

Everything published by BWN, but then I’m bias. :-) Otherwise, The Dark is Rising series, the Night Watch series, Anne Rice’s original 5 books in the Vampire Chronicles, Fight Club and Invisible Monsters, The Rainbow Trilogy, and Good Omens.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

While I did create my own major at college centered around creative writing, I was also and am first and foremost an Asian Studies major, which is how I met my husband. I speak Japanese (though no longer fluently or as well as my husband) and have studied in both China and Japan.

What project are you working on now?

Finishing the last arc of the final book in The Incubus Saga: Sidhe. Hard to believe it’s so close to being complete. After that I’m excited to work on my YA GLBT vampire novel, tentatively titled right now Life as a Teenage Vampire.

http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2014/07/virtual-book-tour-hunter-betrayed-by.html

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions (click on the banner above to see more tour dates). Nancy will be awarding a $50 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour, and a $15 Ellora’s GC to a randomly drawn host.

Hunter Betrayed by Nancy Corrigan

Tainted from birth, Harley lives a life cloaked in darkness and temptation. She resists the lure of her evil legacy by holding the memory of her ghostly savior close. Every night without him is agony. She fantasizes about him and yearns for his body, but he’s not the protector or lover she’s envisioned. He’s a Hunter bred to eliminate her kind. He’s also her only hope of salvation.

Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, was created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court. For a millennium, he’s sacrificed to ensure the horrid creatures remain in the Underworld, but his strength wanes. He must rely on his enemy’s daughter to save him, but he doesn’t expect the intensity of their lust or love. Her touch calms his wild nature and ignites his carnal desires. He’ll risk all to save her, but doing so forces him to make the ultimate sacrifice, one that’ll damn him to suffer forever in his own living hell.

A Romantica® Paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

EXCERPT

Calan heard the torch’s crackle minutes before the sinful fragrance of oranges and spice reached him.

Harley.

He closed his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. Several hours had passed since he’d spoken to her. He’d almost given up hope that she would come to him.

The click of her boots resounded in the hallway. He focused on the stairs leading into his cell. Anticipation held him taut. Nine years he’d waited for her. In that time, he’d experienced a range of emotions from disappointment to hatred, but he’d never let go of the longing. He’d left a piece of himself with her. He wanted it back. Whether he kept the woman he’d given it to remained undecided.

Dirty white shoes appeared on the first step. Shapely legs covered in a clingy black material showed next. Another step revealed flaring hips that gave way to a small waist he could probably span with one hand. The longing he’d always carried for her turned into lust, a burning desire he couldn’t deny.

His pent-up breath escaped in a shudder. A tremor shook the dainty hand curled at her hip. The response, along with the heavy evidence of her arousal in the air added to the sexual tension tightening his limbs.

Full breasts that strained the confines of her shirt rose and fell with her rapid breaths. He should coax her the remaining distance but couldn’t form words. The sight of her pebbled nipples pushing against her thin top shut his mind down. Getting her naked and filling her became his only thought.

She reached out, braced a hand against the wall and took the last step.

Her gaze latched onto his.

His heart stopped.

Dear gods, the fuzzy image he’d held of her didn’t do her justice. She was the most beautiful female he’d ever seen.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Please tell us more about the Huntsmen of the Wild Hunt. Who are they and what can we expect from the series?

The Huntsmen are demigods born of Arawn, Lord of the Underworld, and a human mother for the sole purpose of protecting mankind from the Unseelie fairy court. The Wild Hunt is the race to capture the escaped beings and return them to their prison. Hunter Betrayed as the introduction to the world of the Huntsmen allows the Wild Hunt to ride again. The Hunters have been betrayed and cursed. The series will follow the surviving Huntsmen’s journey to heal their souls in order to save the world.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) of Hunter Betrayed to write and why?

My favorite chapter is the prologue to Hunter Betrayed. It captures the Wild Hunt in vivid detail. I’m a very visual person and I woke from a dream with this scene in my head. It launched the Wild Hunt world and defined the characters and their struggles in my head. Their lives revolve around duty and sacrifice. The Wild Hunt books will give them the one thing denied to them—love.

What about your characters surprised you while writing?

How naughty they are. LOL. Here are these immortals who were literally birthed for one purpose—to protect—and they harbor an intense sexual hunger. The reason makes perfect sense of course. They can become consumed by their need to seek retaliation for the wronged, but even the most wicked creature can be tamed. Sex works wonders on redirecting the intense focus from fury to passion.

How did you select the cover for Hunter Betrayed?

The only input I have on covers is to offer suggestions on mood and physical characteristics, but I think the Ellora’s Cave art department did a wonderful job taking my ideas are creating the cover for Hunter Betrayed. The model depicts Calan wonderfully from his tortured expression to his impressive body. Oh, and the hoodie…perfect!!! I love it!

How long do you generally let a story idea ‘marinate’ in your head before you start the book?

It depends on how badly the characters want their story told and what I’m working on when ‘the idea’ hits me. I write down aspects of it as the story unfolds in my head for whenever I can get to it.

What are the most important elements in good romance writing, in your opinion?

Passion, devotion and a willingness to give your partner everything. I’m not a fan of ‘asshole’ heroes who redeem themselves in the end. Women and men alike deserve to be respected. Nor will I ever write anything with cheating. I’m a romantic at heart J

What’s your biggest challenge as a writer? How did you overcome it, or  how are you working to overcome it?

The lure of social media. I find myself opening up my internet for a quick peek of email or what’s new on social media then lose track of time when I should be writing. I’m trying to limit my time on the internet. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. It’s a work in progress.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.

Fans. I love talking to people who love the characters and worlds I create as much as I do. I treasure those interactions.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

Although it’s in my bio, I think many people are surprised to know that I have a science background. I still run into the stigma of you’re a geek how can you write erotic?

Finish the sentence: One book I wish I had written is… Interview with a Vampire.

I love this book and the world Anne Rice created. It was my first venture into the paranormal world and it completely captivated me.

What project are you working on now?

I just finished Hunter Forsaken, book 2 of the Wild Hunt series and am working on book 2 of a contemporary erotic series tentatively titled, Sander’s Valley. But there are a few characters demanding their HEAs be written including a wolf shifter from my Royal Pride series.

New to the Den? Start at the beginning with Bonds of Trust.

Enjoy an excerpt:

“Over here!”

“Back up. Let ’em through!”

“Hurry!”

The piercing ring of a siren squealed through the air to join the ongoing choir, and cut off the frantic calls before it faded into the distance. An abundance of blue and red lights peppered the cold night with their universal signal for trouble under the blinding spotlights erected around the crash site.

“This way!”

“I need the clamps!”

Chaos surged around Noah as he crouched next to a semiconscious Deklan, who was laid out on a backboard on the edge of the scene. The stench of blood, gas and coolant clouded the area and rode tandem with shouts from the firemen and the medical-filled jargon of the paramedics.

“What the fuck happened?”

He leaned in to catch the slurred words that tumbled from Deklan. Blood leaked through the cloth he held to the man’s head, where a good two-inch gash ran beneath his short hair. He made another scan of the accident and swallowed. His stomach cramped and heaved in a threat to empty itself.

There was too much blood. In the car, on the pavement, covering his friends.

“Stay still.” He braced his free hand on Deklan’s shoulder when the man tried to get up. The first responders had secured Deklan’s neck in a brace, did an injury assessment, then accepted Noah’s offer to stay with Deklan so they could get to the rest of the victims.

“Fuck you,” Deklan mumbled, grimaced and dropped back down. His face was bleach white, eyes hazy with pain and worry. “I need to get to Kendra.”

The desperate edge of panic in his friend’s voice had Noah clearing his throat. “I know.” Shit. He wiped a hand over his mouth and cringed. Too much blood.

Lynda Aicher has always loved to read. It’s a simple fact that has been true since she discovered the words of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, she ended her nomadic lifestyle to raise her two children. Now, her imagination is her only limitation on where she can go and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffer, scheduler, cook, teacher, volunteer, cleaner and mediator. If writing wasn’t a priority, it wouldn’t get done.

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER by P.J. Fiala: Author Interview and Giveaway

Kinky Vanilla Romance is pleased to share Dog Days of Summer by P.J. Fiala, an Erotic Romance released on August 1, 2014 from Rolling Thunder Romance / HenschelHAUS Publishing.

http://goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2014/07/virtual-book-tour-dog-days-of-summer-by.html

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions (click on the banner above to see more tour dates). Be sure to follow the tour and comment; the more you comment, the better your chances of winning the giveaway.

Dog Days of Summer by P.J. Fiala

Owning Rolling Thunder Motorcycles, Inc. and raising his twin sons was top priority in Dog’s life. That was until he met Jocelyn James, the sweet, loving, single mother of Gunnar, a young man who works for Dog.

Joci raised Gunnar alone all of his life after her cheating, dickhead of a boyfriend ran off with another woman. She finished school, started her own graphic design business and hung out with friends and family. The last thing on her mind was men! That is until she met Dog.

The chemistry is undeniable. The passion is incredible. The family bond is like no other.

EXCERPT

Chapter 1

There were times like this when Joci wanted to burst out laughing it felt so good. The wind in her face, running through her hair, the sun warming her skin, the roar all around her, seven hundred-plus pounds of pure unadulterated power between her legs, and she was controlling it all. Gliding through traffic with her son, Gunnar, just a few yards in front of her, feeling all the love and joy God made for her, just her. Yes, these were the times Joci enjoyed. She smiled as they came up behind a car and floated over to the left lane to pass. As she watched, Gunnar glided easily past the car, his dark hair pulled into a low ponytail, the two little kids in the back seat watching him and smiling at each other. You could tell they were thinking, Someday, I’m going to do that. Then as she pulled up alongside to pass them, they started smiling and pointing at her, one of them turning to the adult in the front seat and saying something causing the driver to look over at her as she passed him. He smiled at her, and Joci smiled back at the reaction; it happened often. She could almost hear the kids in the back: Look dad, a girl on a motorcycle.

She easily pulled in front of the car and continued on down the highway to their destination. She loved this life, this group of people that she had, at least, this in common with. A few minutes later, Gunnar and Joci put their turn signals on to turn off the highway, onto a frontage road, and into the parking lot of Rolling Thunder Motorcycles. They navigated the last few shoppers straggling out at the end of the day.

Gunnar worked at Rolling Thunder Motorcycles as a mechanic for the past year. He loved working here. He loved the people he worked with, he loved the customers and their bikes, he loved building bikes, and lately Dog had let him help in the design on some of the custom bikes they were known for. And well-known they were becoming. Dog built some of the hottest bikes around. He had recently been in Rider magazine, and showcased on several “biker” shows. His reputation for building beautiful, custom, mechanically sound bikes was becoming legend.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

What was your favorite chapter (or part) of Dog Days of Summer to write and why?

My favorite part to write was when Jeremiah and Joci finally got together. In every book that’s my favorite part. When the attraction is just too much, they realize they need each other and they want to be together. Sigh!

What about your characters surprised you while writing?

How seemingly dense and yet loyal Dog was to and about LuAnn. He couldn’t see the trouble she was causing, he was trying to be loyal to her and yet, he wanted Joci more than anyone or anything else, but couldn’t see the harm he was doing by being loyal to LuAnn.

How did you select the cover for Dog Days of Summer?

My publisher found an artist to do it. It is actually the second cover I had for Dog Days. The first one was much darker and harder to see as a thumbnail. My publisher suggested something completely different, and we pulled this one together. What I knew had to be on it was a sexy man and his motorcycle.

What are the most important elements in good romance writing, in your opinion?

Everyone is different in their taste. Some people love angst and drama. Some people love sweet quiet love stories. Some people love schticky one-liners. I love sweet, simple love stories about people I feel can be real and a little drama or angst thrown in for good measure.

What’s your biggest challenge as a writer? How did you overcome it, or how are you working to overcome it?

My biggest challenge has been the marketing. How to get the word out. I struggled in the beginning with the usual stuff; how to find good beta readers, how to find an editor, how to find cover artists, etc. But those people come into your life. Marketing has been the biggest challenge. Not sure I’ve overcome it, I’m working at it day by day. I belong to tweet groups and author networks and we help each other with obstacles, technology and struggles.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.

Out of the blue, I have received emails from people that have read my books and tell me how much they loved them and why. Usually it hit some personally connection with them. That is so rewarding and has me floating on a cloud for days afterwards.

Finish the sentence: One book I wish I had written is…

Anything by Kristen Ashley. She is a favorite of mine and an author I hope to be like someday.

I read in your bio that you and your husband travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites and meeting new people. What's been your favorite motorcycle trip so far? Why?

Haha, we were just talking about this. We usually travel with a group of very nice, very fun people. But a few years ago, Gene and I decided to take a trip on our own. We headed down to the Smokey Mountains by way of Gatlinburg Tennessee. We hoped on the Blue Ridge Parkway and we rode it all the way to the beginning of Virginia. We had no schedule, no clocks, we stopped when we felt like it. Sometimes we slept in late, sometimes we got up early. It was the best trip.

What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?

I am a cancer survivor. I had Thyroid Cancer in 2001. I am cancer free now, but I’m on medication and I have regular checkups.

What project are you working on now?

Rydin the Storm Out is the next book to come out. It is the second book in the Rolling Thunder Series and is about Ryder Sheppard, Dog’s son. It is coming back from betas now. Then I’ll send it off to my editor and then to my publisher for publication. I am hoping by Christmas it will be out.

Thank you very much for hosting me today, I genuinely appreciate your time and the time of your readers. Thank you all.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I was born in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri named Bridgeton. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, and played kickball and endless games of hide and seek with the neighborhood kids. Spending summers in Kentucky with my grandmother, Ruth, are the fondest childhood memories for me.

At the age of thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! That was interesting. Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm with twenty-eight cows purchased from the humane society because they had been abused was interesting. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of breeding and feeding schedules, the never ending haying in the summer, and trying to stay warm in the winter. Our first winter in Wisconsin we had thirty-six inches of snow in one storm and were snowed in our house for three days! Needless to say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.

I am now married with four children and two grandchildren and a new one on the way this summer. I have learned to love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are beautiful, and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At every gas station, restaurant, and hotel, we have people come up to us and ask us about what we are doing as well as offer advice on which roads in the area are better than others.

I come from a family of veterans. My grandfather, father, brother, two of my sons, and one daughter-in-law are all veterans. Needless to say, I am proud. Proud to be an American and proud of the service my amazing family has given.
